Design

Parsons’ preliminary and final bridge designs have made us a leader in our field, as exemplified by our award winning design for the new Woodrow Wilson Bridge in Washington, DC. We also designed the Bob Michel Bridge in Peoria, Illinois, and the Carquinez Straits Bridge, the first new suspension bridge to be constructed in the U.S. in more than 30 years. Our outstanding, award-winning construction engineering projects include the Putnam Street Bridge in Marietta, Ohio, and Florida’s Evans Crary, Sr. and Seabreeze Bridges. Parsons’ contributions to these and thousands of other projects include every facet of bridge engineering, including value engineering and contractor proposed redesigns, as well as modernization and retrofit for every type of contemporary fixed and movable bridge in use today.

Design/Build

We go beyond the traditional design process. When appropriate, we use design/build, which helps to generate successful relationships between the design and construction processes. This produces significant cost savings while expediting project schedules for owners and contractors.

Construction Engineering

Parsons has performed demanding construction engineering on such major projects as the Lions Gate Bridge in Vancouver, BC, the Sidney Lanier (cable-stayed) Bridge in Georgia, several segmental structures for Boston’s Central Artery project, and the Great Belt East Bridge in Denmark, the world’s longest air-spun cable suspension bridge. This level of bridge engineering is simply unparalleled, and Parsons provides it for bridges and long-span structures of all types from concept to final design. Our clients rely on us as a total solutions provider for new design, planning, cost studies, aerodynamic and seismic analyses, project management, and complete construction and inspection services.

Construction Inspection

As a natural extension of our knowledge and experience in bridge design and construction, Parsons provides construction inspection services for all types of bridges. We are also providing on-call construction inspection services for the new San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge and the widening of the San Mateo-Haywood Bridge. Our on-site construction inspection teams provide technical assistance and specialized services to supplement the contractor’s and owner’s expertise and to ensure the best possible finished project. Parsons also provided construction inspection for the segmental bridges on the I-25/I-40 Interchange project in Albuquerque, the largest project ever undertaken by the New Mexico State Highway and Transportation Department. Our construction expertise gives us a unique ability to monitor the quality of bridge construction work and to provide the quality assurance/quality control necessary to ensure the best possible finished products.
