Parsons Parsons

Project Profile

Parsons is aware of industry's responsibility to work with government agencies and other industry partners to strengthen and defend America's critical infrastructure. To increase the level of readiness and response in our nation’s airport security, Parsons and our joint venture partner implemented the Strategic Airport Security Rollout Program. The program was initiated at 91 airports and involved installation of 373 checkpoints and 236 screening lanes.

With the program’s schedule of implementation a critical issue, Parsons promptly fielded teams of managers and construction personnel to perform site preparation assessments at geographically dispersed locations throughout the United States and its territories.

The enormity of this program is demonstrated by the amount and variety of equipment that was purchased and installed. The project teams managed the movement and integration of hundreds of X-ray machines, walk-through metal detectors, explosive trace detection devices, supplemental shoe X-ray devices, as well as thousands of pieces of peripheral checkpoint equipment.

The challenge was to perform all of the services in existing airport operating environments while maintaining passenger safety and baggage security, and minimizing disruption of airport and TSA operations. Parsons managed this complex program, affecting hundreds of thousands of passengers, without incurring significant delays, operation impacts, or reportable safety incidents or injuries.
