COMMUNITY RELATIONS

Parsons incorporates community relations and planning services into all its projects. We consider projects successful when the media and affected communities show enthusiasm for them. Services include:

  • Long-term program planning
  • Public meetings
  • 24/7 800 number hotlines
  • Web sites and email points of contact
  • Outreach programs
  • Technical experts available to answer community concerns

Examples of extending our hand to the community are:

  • At a Superfund site, construction involved road closures. We provided temporary access roads, helped residents find temporary housing during construction, and later restored adjacent residential backyards.
  • The I-15 Freeway Flood Channel Project inconvenienced homeowners and businesses alike. We kept homeowners and businesses abreast of progress with posters, flyers, and billboards. We also used these same devices to inform them about road closures, associated detour routes and road re-openings. Parsons attended community meetings to spread news and answer questions about pending activities.
  • The Fernald site in Ohio is a former uranium extrusion facility operated by the U.S. Department of Energy, now undergoing remediation. Citizens and regulators were concerned about spills and the spread of contamination. Parsons led open houses to answer all stakeholders' questions. These discussions helped the community and the government resolve differences. They built consensus among stakeholders, reduced opposition, and produced significant time and cost savings in the long run.
